I help people relieve pain get back to doing what they love. I’m a Nurse Practitioner with extensive training and experience across various modalities and approaches to health and wellness. Since obtaining a Master of Nursing degree from the University of Victoria in 2014, I’ve dedicated over a decade to primary care, specializing in mental health and substance use, chronic pain, sexual health, and gender-affirming care. My continuing medical education includes training in myoActivation (Level 4) through the Anatomic Medicine Foundation, and psychotherapy training through the Medical Psychotherapy Association Canada (MDPAC). Additionally, I’m an Adjunct Professor with the UBC School of Nursing.
My approach to care has been influenced by my own lived experiences as well as inspiring mentors, in addition to formal training. Navigating significant losses, bouts of anxiety, insomnia, and burnout have not only provided me perspective but have also been the catalysts to my own healing. I am driven by a deep curiosity about the connection between lived experiences and the body, and love working with the nervous system. I have been deeply inspired by my Indigenous colleagues’ approach to wellness while working within a two-eyed seeing model of care since 2015. The principles and practice of authentic relating also shape the way I practice and show up today.
Yoga holds significance in both my personal and professional journey. Initially drawn to deepen my own practice, I completed my first Yoga Teacher Training in 2012. The transformative experience of meditation inspired me to share this practice with others. Combining my interest in Yoga and chronic pain, I taught trauma-sensitive Yoga to survivors of complex trauma and folks living with pain for several years. In 2019 I published a research study on the effects of Yoga on mental health. I pursued additional training in Integrative Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda at the School of Ayurveda and Panchakarma in India in 2019, followed by 300hr teacher training with Shamanic Yoga Institute in 2022, and continue in integrate the practice of Yoga in my daily life. I see the breath and body as powerful resources.
