I help people relieve pain get back to doing the activities they love. I’m a Nurse Practitioner with extensive training and experience across various modalities and approaches to health and wellness. Since obtaining a Master of Nursing degree from the University of Victoria in 2014, I’ve dedicated over a decade to primary care, specializing in mental health and substance use, chronic pain, sexual health, and gender-affirming care. My continuing medical education includes training in myoActivation (Level 4) through the Anatomic Medicine Foundation, and psychotherapy training through the Medical Psychotherapy Association Canada (MDPAC). I'm also an Adjunct Professor with the UBC School of Nursing.
In addition to formal training, my approach to care has been influenced by my own lived experiences of loss, bouts of anxiety, insomnia and burnout, and by the mentors who have inspired me along the way. Since 2015, I’ve had the privilege of working within a two‑eyed seeing model of care, which continues to influence how I understand wellness. The principles of authentic relating also inform how I practice and how I show up — with presence, humility, and a genuine respect for each person’s lived experience.
Yoga holds significance in both my personal and professional journey. Initially drawn to deepen my own practice, I completed my first Yoga Teacher Training in 2012. The transformative experience of meditation inspired me to share this practice with others. Combining my interest in Yoga and chronic pain, I taught trauma-sensitive Yoga to survivors of complex trauma and folks living with pain for several years. In 2019 I published a research study on the effects of Yoga on mental health. I pursued additional training in Integrative Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda at the School of Ayurveda and Panchakarma in India in 2019, followed by 300hr teacher training with Shamanic Yoga Institute in 2022, and continue in integrate the practice of Yoga in my daily life. I see the breath and body as powerful resources.
