myoActivation® is a unique structured system of assessment and treatment to relieve myofascial components of chronic pain and improve mobility and quality of life. It's distinguished from other treatments in the approach of identifying the source of the pain and the system of needling to release muscles in sustained contraction, fascia under tension, and relevant scars with the aim of resolving pain. Often the area of your body that is treated is a different location from where you experience pain. For example, low back pain and knee pain can originate from trigger points in the abdominal area.

myoActivation® was developed by Dr. Greg Siren MD and has been trademarked to ensure quality assurance.

Most pain or movement issues can be helped by myoActivation®. Common issues addressed include:

  • Back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Shoulder and neck tension and restriction
  • Knee and hip pain and restriction
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches and jaw pain
  • Post surgery pain
  • Carpal Tunnel
  • Bunion Pain
  • And more!

What to expect

Initial intake appointments are approximately 45 minutes and follow-up sessions are 30 minutes.

You will be asked about your medical history, past injuries, surgeries, and scars since childhood. The assessment will involve assessing your posture, range of motion, and palpating for tender points or tissue densities. Treatment involves the insertion of hypodermic needles into trigger points, fascia (the membrane that envelops muscles) and scars. The needle is removed immediately. No medication is injected.

As the body releases tension, range of motion generally increases and pain decreases. Usually range of motion will improve before pain. Initially as tension lines start to change it may feel achy in areas that are different from your original complaint or symptom. This is not unusual and is seen as a positive sign.

Appointments are typically booked 1-2 weeks apart. The number of treatments needed varies based on complexity and from person to person. Most people find some benefit after the first treatment. Sometimes up to 4-8 sessions are needed to get sustained resolution.

You might NOT be able to have this procedure if:

  • You have an infection,
  • You are on blood thinners,
  • You are pregnant,
  • You are immuno-compromised or immuno-suppressed

Common side effects of myoActivation include minor bleeding at the needle site, pain during treatment, bruising, feeling emotions, lightheaded or dizzy, local skin irritation, post-treatment fatigue and soreness lasting a few days.

Post-treatment

For the first few days after treatment, it’s recommended to limit postures you spend prolonged periods of time in and avoid any strenuous activity. Over the 5 days following treatment you can slowly build back to your regular routine. Try and tune into how various activities and postures affect your symptoms and modify as needed. This allows time for the treated tissues to recuperate and sustained benefit.

I have been dealing with persistent back issues for what feels like an eternity.
Sometimes a regular massage helped, but in recent months, my situation
demanded more attention. Stress, physical inactivity due to a concussion, and an
existing injury intensified my discomfort. Desperate for relief from the incessant pain, I
explored various treatments, but the relief didn't last—until I was introduced to
MyoActivation.

This discovery amazes me. It had immediate and lasting impact. I am not in constant pain anymore and regained the ability to perform simple tasks like bending over to tie my shoes. These transformative effects happened within my first session. I am eagerly
anticipating further sessions with Sarah.
